Afterglow Counseling accepts in-network insurance plans as well as out-of-pocket payments for sessions. We have a limited number of sliding scale spots available and are happy to discuss this with you during your initial consultation. For more information on this please follow this link

Afterglow is currently considered in network with the following plans:

BCBS PPO

Blue Choice PPO

Aetna

Please note that we are not in network with BCBS HMO or Medicare/Medicaid associated plans.

Please be aware that some Aetna/BCBS PPO plans contract with a different insurance provider for mental health benefits.  If this is the case, Afterglow Counseling may be considered as an out-of-network provider for your mental health services.

Following your free consultation, we will check your insurance benefits to give you an estimate of your session responsibility, but we always recommend that you verify what your session cost will be with your benefits administrator or group plan.

Should you wish to use out-of-network benefits for a plan that we are not currently working with, we are happy to provide you with the documents you need to file claims/submit for reimbursement independently.

Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133 - effective January 1, 2022), health care providers need to give clients or patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • For any new client or potential new client not using insurance for therapy costs, a Good Faith Estimate will be provided to you prior to your initial appointment.

  • This Good Faith Estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs for an item or service. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created.

  • You can ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
